Olunloyo (PhD, 1972, Cornell U.) is Distinguished Professor of Systems Engineering, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria. Olunloyo has made important contributions in three fields: aerospace, environmental fluid mechanics, and singular perturbations. In aerospace, his work on the relative magnitudes and effects of flow characteristics, and lift or pressure distribution over wings of blunt bodies at supersonic speeds helped settle a controversy. In fluid mechanics, his work (with Hulter) on the motion of the Alpine glaciers under thermal warming pointed out the stresses and forces involved in such situations. Olunloyo is a fellow of the Nigerian academies of Sciences and of Engineering and has won the Nigerian National Order of Merit. He was the first person appointed as a Distinguished Professor by the University of Lagos (2007).
