Bouramoué, Christophe

Bouramoué is a Congolese cardiologist ('doctorat' in medicine, 1968, and ‘aggrégation’ in cardiology, 1973, Paris, France). Founder of the Congolese society for arterial hypertension and internal medicine, he was head of the service of Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Brazzaville, and dean of the Faculty of Medicine, INSSA. He has served as minister of health and social affairs, 1984-86; minister for scientific research and environment, 1986-88; and rector of the University of Marien Ngouabi, 1992-95. His honours include: Officier du Mérite Gabonais, 1979; Officier du Mérite Congolais, 1981; Chevalier du Mérite Sénégalais, 1982; Commandeur du Mérite Congolais, 1985; Commandeur des Palmes Académiques Françaises, 1986; Grand Officier du Mérite Congolais, 1988; and Medaille, Legion d'Honneur, France, 2007.
