Tchouassi, David Poumo

David Poumo Tchouassi was born and grew up in Malende-Muyuka, Cameroon, where he received his primary education at Catholic School Malende. He later received his secondary and high school education in the Government High School Muyuka finishing with GCE Ordinary and Advanced Levels Certificates, respectively. He proceeded to the University of Buea and obtained a BSc degree (First Class) in Zoology and a professional minor in Medical Laboratory Technology in 2001. He later worked at the Research Foundation for Tropical Diseases and Environment (REFOTDE), a non-governmental organization that conducts research on tropical diseases such as malaria and filariasis. He received an MPhil with distinction, working on Malaria transmission dynamics under the African Regional Postgraduate Programme in Insect Science (ARPPIS), University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana in 2006. He enrolled for a PhD in Entomology in June 2010 at the University of Pretoria where he graduated in Sept 2013. He is recently being considered for promotion to Research Scientist position, after fulfilling the institutional requirements. He continues in the same path, with a strong interest in the development of improved control and surveillance tools for vectors of arboviral diseases and malaria through chemical ecology and molecular approaches which has recently been expanded to include sandflies focusing on an understanding of the transmission dynamics of these vector-borne diseases.
