Karungi-Tumutegyereize holds a PhD in Crop Entomology (2007) that she attained as a Sandwich arrangement between Makerere University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. She is also an alumnus of the Imperial College of London (former Wye College). She has 16 years of experience teaching Insect Science with a focus on physiology, ecology and management at the School of Agricultural Sciences, Makerere University. She has orchestrated, won and provided leadership and guidance in over 24 research projects. She has supervised 11 graduate students to completion, and is currently supervising 12 graduate students at different levels in their programmes. Her research has emphasized development and dissemination of ecological pest management strategies for key crops in Uganda. She has authored 25 peer reviewed journal publications, a book chapter, a handbook and numerous non-peer reviewed publications. She has presented her research at over 23 scientific congress/symposia. She is an active reviewer for six internationally renowned agricultural science journals.
