TWAS-ROSSA participated in the Science Forum in December 2015.
TWAS Executive Director, Prof Romain Murenzi, and the TWAS-ROSSA Regional Coordinator and Prof Roseanne Diab, Executive Officer of ASSAf both attended the forum.
Besides taking part in the Science International meetings and press conference on big data, Prof Murenzi participated in four sessions of the Science Forum South Africa. He presented with Prof Daya Reddy, ASSAf President, Prof Sir Peter Gluckman, Chief Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and Dr Julie Maxton Executive Director of the Royal Society in a session on international partnership for government science advice. Prof Murenzi also moderated an ASSAf-sponsored event on applying the gender lens in STI: Where are We and What Do We Do Next? Prof Murenzi, alongside the Minister of Science and Technology, Mrs Naledi Pandor, presented the TWAS-ROSSA prizes to two winners of the Regional Prize (Prof Jan Smit, Science Centre Manager at North West University) and Regional Young Scientist Prize (Prof Alta Schutte, Unit Director at Medical Research Council) as part of the Science Diplomacy awards at the Science Forum South Africa. Prof Romain Murenzi gave the vote of thanks to conclude the Science Forum South Africa.
